Another lovely spring week. It is wonderful to be back with you. I have new questions blooming in the inbox. And that always makes me happy. If you have a question for me, if you've been working on a space doing some spring cleaning and wanna reimagine something, Then make sure you let me know
And then we want it to look aesthetically pleasing. Because not only do you have lots of medium pieces of furniture in this room, you have lots of medium art. You know, there's a small American flag, kind of, made of wood above the file cabinet. There's a little wooden cutout of Texas above the armchair. There's a small landscape above the 3 drawer dresser, which I didn't even mention because there's just more little furniture. Or is it a secretary desk? Unsure. And then there's a small little landscape above the upholstered dining chair. So right now, this feels like the room where items that you didn't know where to put in other rooms just come to live. And for me, that's a big miss because that's creating the issue of this room feeling, you know, not only that it lacks intention functionally, but visually, its style is just not meeting the goal of colorful or playful or whatever you wanna say with that word contemporary. This is gonna involve some work less, but I know that you can do it, and I know that you'll send me up date pictures when you do. So please keep me posted, and I hope those guidelines have helped. And now it's time for a quick commercial break. Have you dreamed of making interior design your career but just don't know how to get started? You know you don't want to go back to university, but you'd love to make money doing what you're passionate about, and you'd love to take this interest in interior design beyond a hobby. Well, I have the program for you. It's the Uploft Interior Design Academy. In the academy, which is a robust 10 week course, we teach you everything you need to know about where to find clients, how to make money, but also the fundamentals of design, Whether it's creating the perfect floor plan, working with a floor plan software, measuring for windows, choosing the right paint color and finish, shopping for your clients with expertise, and then, of course, creating visual presentations online that will wow.
It's really turned into spring sometime very soon. The other thing I'm hoping is that I'm hoping that you guys are getting a chance to go shopping. Because something really exciting happened to me this weekend. It was cold. It was rainy. I was looking for something to do with both my 13 year old son and my 5 month old baby. What would they both enjoy? Now, the great news is they love hanging out together. So my son is absolutely smitten with my daughter. He's always taking pictures, and playing with her, and pushing her stroller. But, you know, we can't take her to the movies. We can take her to the arcade, but, you know. So we decided to take them to the mall. So I took my son, and I took my baby to the mall. And, you know, we could walk around because it was not cold in the mall, not windy or rainy in the mall. It was actually a day of torrential downpour. And we could walk around this mall, and my son could stop and go look at things, or we could grab lunch at the, cafe or whatever. So it turned out to be really fun, and I hadn't explored this mall very much even though it's close to my house. Because while I like to shop, malls are not really my jam. I hate the big parking garages. I hate navigating paid parking. I hate, you know, having to walk half a mile to get to the one store you want. It's just, you know, something I was super into in junior high and have since phased out. But back in the mall, I had this newfound appreciation because this mall had so many cool home stores. It had our house. It had EQ 3. It had LA Home. It had H and M Home. It had CB 2. And we had so much fun. Of course, my son, did not wanna go into the furniture stores with me even though I assured him that he could jump on the sofas and, you know, try out the dining chairs. That held no allure for him even though I get quite excited about

A book conference called the Pitch and Publish Conference in Westport, where I am going to pitch my book, my proposal, to several agents, and hopefully they bite.
Wallpaper mural, even though it kinda goes against what I typically say about, you know, wallpapering only one wall looks like an accident wall. Like, where's the rest? Right? And if you did have the inclination to mural the entire room, I think that would be fascinating, but also a heavy dose of these very busy images. I think it's a really fun, bold choice. You wanna pick the wall strategically for a mural because you don't want a wall that's broken up by windows, doorways, lots of intricate molding. You wanna be able to see the entire panorama almost as you would a piece of art. Right? You'd hate to have a piece of art with a big old hole in it, in this case, a hole for a window. So So I really wanna be able to see the practically complete image. So not all walls are set up for this, especially if you have a lot of light switches, a lot of outlets, a thermostat, you know, that could further gunk up your clean, beautiful, artistic image. And then this piece, without question, becomes your inspiration piece because there's so many colors, because it's so big, because it's so overpowering in terms of its imagery. This is not a bashful mural. And there are bashful murals that feel like a watercolor abstract or different things like this, and I've certainly used a variety of murals in my day. But these are really bold, and they would serve not only as that inspiration piece from which all the colors in the room would be derived, But, also, you know, these have strong tropical themes. I don't know where you live, but if you put this tropical wallpaper in Indiana, you might look like you're trying a little hard in terms of pushing it in a direction that's counterintuitive to either the architecture or the place. You live in Tennessee. I'm not saying you have to do
